Light The Tower

Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 27, 2026

Light The Tower ("the app") is an independent, non-commercial project. This policy explains, plainly, what data the app collects and how it's used. There isn't much to it.

What we collect

When you allow notifications, the app registers a device push token with our server — an opaque identifier Apple generates for your device, used only to deliver push notifications through Apple's Push Notification service (APNs). That's the only piece of data the app collects or stores.

We do not collect:

How we use it

The device token is used solely to send you a push notification when the UT Tower's lighting configuration changes. Nothing else.

Who we share it with

Your device token is shared with Apple's Push Notification service, which is required to deliver the notification to your device — this is a standard part of how iOS push notifications work. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone else, and there is no advertising in the app.

How long we keep it

Your token is kept until you disable notifications, uninstall the app, or Apple reports the token as no longer valid (at which point it's automatically deactivated on our end). You can also request deletion at any time — see the contact info below.

Hosting

The app's backend runs on standard web hosting infrastructure, which may log basic technical information (like IP addresses) for routine security and reliability purposes, as most hosting providers do. This isn't something the app itself collects or has access to.

Children's privacy

The app is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If anything about our data practices changes, this page will be updated with a new effective date.
